Skoda Rapid Expert Review 2014

The Rapid is a perfect combination of art, science and technology making it the most successful chapter of Skoda since its launch about two years ago. This sedan was crafted by the Czech auto company called Skoda Auto.

With its appealing exterior looks and premium appeal, the Rapid blinds the eyes at the very first glance with its beautifully embedded fog lamps and smooth finish. It looks good and sturdy. On the exterior, Skoda has managed to create a seemingly good exterior design that reminds you of the Vento into a more bold and muscular one with the restyled bonnet that is typical of Skoda .

There is no complaint in space and comfort. The interiors are classy and luxurious making it a king of the 8 to 10 lack range. It wins against the Honda City in style and elegance and is more rugged than Hyundai Verna. The Rapid looks beautiful in comparison to Ford’s Figo and all the above it has fresh touch of being new. It clearly wins the show and the availability of both the diesel and petrol variant gives a wide variety to buyers. Rapid is an astonishing piece of engineering and will surely do marvels in our economy as it offers style at an affordable prices.

However, the Rapid lacks features like Bluetooth phone connectivity and controls on steering are missing. However Skoda more than makes up for it with its fuel efficient engine that delivers a brilliant performance. You can choose from a 1.6 litre petrol and a 1.6 litre diesel engine.

The Rapid comes in three variants-Active, Ambition and Elegance .The Rapid Active is spacious and comes with coloured bumpers, air-conditioning power windows and central locking system. Driver airbag, remote locking and driver seat adjustment is added to the Ambition while the Elegance comes with alloy wheels, climate control system, CD player, electrically adjustable mirrors and airbags for the front passengers.

The price range for the petrol variants is Rs. 6.62 lakhs for the Active to Rs. 8.80 lakhs for the Elegance which is automatic while the diesel variants are priced between Rs 7.82 lakh for the Active to Rs 9.03 lakh for the Elegance (all prices ex-showroom Maharashtra).

Though in the past sedans built by Skoda suffered poor reputation, reviews have shown that the Rapid has surpassed all expectations gaining steadily in popularity and has been often referred to as ‘the poor man’s Porsche’. The Volkswagen Vento gives the Rapid some competition. However, if reviews are to be believed then it’s a perfect choice for anyone looking for an affordable mid-sized sedan.
